Top Legal Websites 2018 Update – 11/28/2018
Today I updated my post on the best looking sites in Ohio.
-FindLaw continues to be the leader in the State with 187 legal sites. In my database I count 133 custom FindLaw sites and 54 active FindLaw template sites. FindLaw built one of my favorite sites, a PI site that pays homage to “Reservoir Dogs”. The large number of sites in the State is a direct result of them having 4 really good long term sales consultants in the State; Michael Brown in Cincinnati, Chris and Anthony Mastriano in Cleveland, and Brain Dennie in Columbus.
-The firm with the 2nd most Sites in the State is the new AVVO/Martindale company. The combined company has 81 legal websites in the State.
-Given the large number of small towns in the State, I am not surprised to see a high number of Hibu sites, 73 of them in the State.
-Scorpion has done a good job in the State with 38 website clients. Impressively, while adding a number of new sites, they have not lost a site in the State since my last post.
-The Modern Firm is also extremely strong in the State with 61 legal websites, which makes up roughly 14% of the Modern Firm websites in in the entire country.
-My company, iLawyermarketing gets an “F” for sales in Ohio. To date we still have just one client in Ohio, The Brannon Law Firm – who continues to have a leading organic web presence for personal injury in Dayton.
Here are my new favorite designs in the Buckeye State:
- Porter Wright – One of the better corporate law websites in the country. Very cool imagery with interactive elements throughout.
- Luftman Heck & Associates: Fantastic Columbus criminal law website from Postali, far and away the best legal SEO/Design firm in the Buckeye State.
- Roarke & Blumenthal – My favorite Scorpion site in the State. This long time Scorpion client redesigned their site in 2018
4. Elk & Elk – One of FindLaw’s largest clients keep the FindLaw logo off their sites, but that does not fool me. The firm redesigned this content rich site in early 2018.
5. O’Keefe Family Law – My favorite family site in the State. Some very cool design elements on home page
Honorable Mention
Patituce & Associates – Great criminal site in Cleveland from Scorpion
Stafford Law – Clean family law site in Cleveland released in 2018
Campbell Law – Not your typical FindLaw design, as the design was originally done by Legal EFX and is still featured in their portfolio
Arenstein & Gallagher – Very sharp criminal law site in Cincinnati from FindLaw

Here is my Original Post form December 2014
The Buckeye State has some great looking legal websites. The big players (Findlaw, Scorpion, Lexis and Justia) are well represented in the State, but there are two local design firms that are also worth mentioning. Blue Laser Design has built a lot of legal websites in Ohio – at least 20 that I could find. From a design standpoint their sites are just average. Cynexis, on the other hand, builds some nice websites, yet only has four legal sites in the State.
After looking at well over 800 legal websites in Ohio, here are my favorites:
#1 Agee, Clymer, Mitchell & Laret
Columbus workers compensation site features video footage as the background of the home page. The best of four excellent legal sites from Cynexis.
#2 Barr, Jones & Associates
Really nice website. Each practice area page has some very cool interactive features – including an interactive process flow chart. Statewide firm has offices in Cleveland, Colombus and Cincinnati.
#3 Brannon & Associates
First and only website from iLawyermarketing in the State of Ohio. Site features a slick interactive list of attorneys on the home page. Also features custom navigation for each practice area section.
#4 The Koffel Law Firm
Fantastic Scorpion site with a very powerful video. Great lines in the video – “They’re going to have to get introspective” – I LOVE THAT. Scorpion’s investment fraud site www.investorclaims.com is also fantastic.
#5 Robert Klingler
Awesome employment law website in Cincinnati from Paperstreet Design.
