Today I look at the best legal websites in Michigan. Michigan is a State where my company, iLawyermarketing, has never had a client! The last time I studied the legal websites in Michigan was on January 8th 2017, when I did an ARC analysis of the PI sites in Michigan. The ARC, or average rank consistency score, looks at the page ranking of 8 competitive keywords at a singe point in time. Comparing the ARC overtime can be quite instructive as you can see who has moved up, who has stayed the same and who is moving down. In Michigan, the top site in terms of ARC continues to be Michigan Injury Lawyers with an impressive ARC of 0.645 – which is a slight improvement from 2107. The great ranking is not a surprise, as Rankings IO has an impressive SEO track record.
The numbers going Left to Right correlate to the page of Google results I found the site on for the following keywords: (Michigan Personal Injury Lawyer, Michigan Car Accident Lawyer, Michigan Injury Attorney, Michigan Motorcycle Accident Lawyer, Michigan Truck Accident Lawyer, Michigan Wrongful Death Lawyer, Accident Attorney Michigan and Michigan Brain Injury Lawyer) . A score of 0.3 signifies the fact that the site came up in the top 3 (either maps or organic) and a score of 11 means that the site did not come up in the top 10 pages of ranking results.
The bolded number to the right is that firm’s Average Ranking Consistency Score of (ARC). This is a weighted average of the 8 keyword rankings. Taken by itself, this point in time analysis is helpful in seeing who is ranking high for a number of important keywords in Michigan. Here is the ARC analysis for the top ranked site in the State:
The big loser in Michigan personal injury rankings since January 2017 is the Buckfire Law Firm. The Foster Web Marketing website has dropped dramatically in the organic search results. Going from an amazing ARC of 0.345 to 4.018 today. The results would be much worse, if it was not for them continuing to rank for a few terms in maps. (A site will score a 0.3 if they are in the top 3 in maps or organic) . Without the great map rankings for ‘Michigan Personal Injury Lawyer” and “Michigan Injury Attorney” their ARC would be over 7.00.
*UPDATE* – 10/28/2019
I got the chance to meet Larry Buckfire recently at a MTMP conference. What a great guy. I was happy to see that Larry has mostly recovered from the drop in rankings. Using BluShark Digital, Larry converted his site to WordPress and cleaned up and reorganized his content. His ARC is now back under 1!
I will leave the “why” for a different post. At the bottom of this post you can see the most recent ARC results for the all the sites that market personal injury in Michigan.

Michigan is the home of The Modern Firm – a legal website design and SEO company based in Ann Arbor. They build simple, clean looking and affordable WordPress websites for law firms across the country. They also seem to take great care of their clients. In my database of over 50,000 legal websites, the Modern Firm has one of the highest retention rates of any legal website company in the country. This criminal site in Lansing offers a good example of their work. In Michigan the Modern Firm has 61 website clients by my count. While that is a lot of legal sites, Findlaw has the most legal sites in the State with just over 100 sites that bear their name. Hibu is a close second at 86.

- Davis Law Group – Great looking and extremely visible criminal site designed by Postali. Despite being built in 2016, the site still holds up with fantastic custom photography.
- Garan Lucow Miller – Fantastic corporate site with some slick interactive design elements.
- DeBruin Law – Best looking criminal law website in Lansing. Does a great job organizing a lot of good content.
- Elia & Ponto – Nice looking PI site with background video playing on the home page.
- Gold Star Law – The colors change! – very GOLD
- Rhoades McKee – One of the better looking legal designs in Western Michigan. Nice use of background video in the design
- Gower Law – This general practice law site in Bay City distinguishes itself from most Scorpion sites with some interesting design elements on the home page.
- Jackman & Kasody – Very clean looking family law site from FindLaw that was redesigned in 2018. One of the better sites in Oakland County.
- Fraser & Souweidane – My favorite personal injury site in Macomb County
