**UPDATE – On December 8th, 2020 – I updated the Average Rank Consistency Score for every personal injury, family law and Criminal law website in Indy.
Today I feature the best legal websites in the Hoosier State. My affinity for Indiana started in 7th grade. After coming back from Europe, I had discovered basketball and I was obsessed. After reading John Feinstein’s book “A Season On the Brink” and watching the movie, “Hoosiers” – I learned about a place (Indiana) that was as crazy about basketball as I was. I remember pleading with my parents to move there. Later when I played college basketball at West Point, two of my teammates were hoosiers. Jason Villas was from the famed Lawrence North High School and my backcourt mate, Mark Lueking, came from tiny Austin, IN. In 2017 Mark Lueking was named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame!
Okay back to my current obsession; legal websites. This is the 2nd time I featured the best sites in the Hoosier State, having done so in January 2015. Legal web design has come a long way since then.
- Banks & Brower:
The only iLawyermarketing website in the State takes the top spot. Like any ilawyermarketing design, the site features numerous interactive design elements throughout the website. A fabulous legal website. (Full disclosure: I work at iLawyermarketing – but seriously, is there a better legal site in the State?)
2) Blackburn & Green
Very clean and sharp design with great custom photography. Very nice site that also has very good visibility throughout Indiana for personal injury.
3) BB & C
Lafayette family and estate planning site features a well produced background video.
4) Crossen Kooi
Very nice design effort from Apricot Law. Known for their very good SEO results, the fact that this site makes the list is testimony to the overall weakness of the Indiana legal designs in the State. Site does employ some decent interactive features along with hamburger menu.
5) Eskew Law
Very visible criminal law website in Indianapolis that features excellent custom photography.
Honorable Mention
–The Criminal Defense Team: A very sharp looking criminal law site in Noblesville from Scorpion. Site incorporates some very good custom photography of the attorneys.
–Moreno & Villarrubia Best Immigration site in the State is from FindLaw
–Herrin & Leach – Adoption law is a big deal in Indiana, with lots of firms marketing
–Stuart & Branigin Sharp looking Business law site in Lafayette
–Sevenish Law Firm: A definite improvement over their prior Foster Web marketing Site. Solid background video on homepage.
–Kevin M. Schmidt – My favorite Bankruptcy site in the State. A nice effort from NUVEW.
–The Bellinger Law Office – My favorite site in Fort Wayne
–Jones Huff Jones & Richeson – There are lots of very small towns in Indiana. This firm in Plymouth has a great site, proving you dont need to be in a major city to have a nice website.
Mistakes You Can Learn From
Christopher Myers – Video by “Shakes the Videographer” – Seriously dont watch this if you have vertigo.
Stevens Travis Fortin – A lot of firms are now incorporating background video in their websites. This is a good example of how not to do it. The gratuitous slow motion is quite distracting. Talking on the phone in slow mo seems silly to me.
Oates & Oates: While obviously a dated design, the real tragedy here for the Merrillville firm is the programming of the site. Despite a lot of content, the site is programmed to bring up the home page only. Terrible for SEO.
Ross G. Thomas: Back in 2006 it was common to see this, at the bottom of his page he lists out all the counties that he works in. This is called a GEO Block. Today this is considered spammy and should be avoided. Worse, this firm also just lists out every crime imaginable in very tiny lettering at the bottom of the page.
