Average Rank Consistency (ARC) for Townsquare Interactive
Today I look at the firm Townsquare Interactive, a website company based out of Charlotte North Carolina. They are one of the largest website companies, with over 14,000 website clients across all industries. Using the Average Rank Consistency Score or ARC, I analyze the rankings of all of the Townsquare sites that market personal injury and family law. The ARC is a weighted average of 8 important keywords. For Personal Injury I track the rankings for the following keywords: (Personal Injury lawyer, Car Accident, Injury Attorney, Motorcycle Accident, Truck Accident, Wrongful Death, Accident Lawyer, and Brain Injury). I ran the PI analysis for every Townsquare site that marketed PI. (Sites that contained pages that marketed PI in their title tags) .
ARC Calculation:
Below is the rankings for one of Townsquare’s top performing sites – The Keating Law Firm in Columbus OH. A keyword that is on the third page of search results would score a “3” , a keyword on the 7 pager would score a “7” and so on. After double weighting the first four terms (PI, Accident, Injury, and Car Accident), I average the scores to come up with the Average Rank Consistency score or ARC. In the below example the ARC is 4.50.
The ARC is not perfect. It is a ‘point in time” ranking analysis of 8 keywords. Rankings change all the time. In addition companies like Townsquare are launching new sites all the time. Many of the scores may reflect brand new sites or sites that might not be doing SEO. That said, by using this consistent methodology, it does give good insight into the real ability of Townsquare Interactive to get legal sites to rank in Google.

Put simply, No. One of the reasons I use the ARC is that it provides an objective way to compare website companies. For example here are the ARC averages for Scorpion and FindLaw family law sites in California. The difference in ARC is stark, particularly when it comes to tier 3 and tier 4 markets.
